silver plan

Silver Plan – Funeral Cover
🎯 Purpose * To provide moderate financial relief for funeral costs, so family isn’t burdened with all expenses. * To strike a balance between cost (monthly premium) and benefits. Funeral benefit (lump sum or service value) Covers funeral costs for principal member (and sometimes spouse or children). Could be something like R10,000–R20,000 depending on age, provider, and premiums. E.g., MTG Silver Plan offers cover: Principal member & spouse \~R20,000; children a bit less. Dependants / family cover Often includes spouse, children. Extended family may be optional or at extra cost. Some plans include “extended family” or “extended dependants” benefits. Waiting periods / age restrictions | There’s often a waiting period for natural death claims (e.g. 6 months), while accidental death may be covered immediately. Entry ages may be limited (e.g., up to age 75 or 80 for joiners). Included services Things like a standard coffin/casket, hearse, transport of the body, grave registration, program booklets, chairs/tent for viewing, basic graveside decoration, etc. Some Silver plans include limited catering or refreshments. Grocery or essential support Sometimes a small grocery component or “comfort” items for family hosting the service, or refreshments etc. But less than in higher plans. These could include body repatriation (if required), radio announcements, death registration, lowering device, tombstone/memorial contributions, etc. The Silver plan may offer some of these but possibly with lower limits. --- 💰 Premiums * Monthly premium is higher than Bronze/basic plans but lower than Gold/Platinum. * Premium depends on: * Age of the person insured (older ages = higher premium) * Number of dependants / family members covered * Sum insured (benefit amount) * Example: MTG’s Silver Plan with full family cover might cost around **R110 per month** for family. Single person might pay less. --- ⚠️ Considerations / Limitations * Waiting periods: Natural death claims usually have a waiting period before the full benefits kick in. * Age limits for joining or for certain benefit levels. Older entrants may pay more or get fewer benefits. * Benefit caps or exclusions: some items might not be included (e.g. premium or luxury coffin options, extensive repatriation, elaborate catering). Families may need to top up themselves. * Terms & conditions matter: what “standard service” means; what “transport” is included; notice required; who arranges services. ---

bronze plan

🪦 Bronze Plan– Funeral Cover Purpose * To provide essential funeral cover at a low monthly cost. * Ensures basic funeral costs are covered so the family doesn’t face the biggest financial burden. * Fewer bells & whistles compared to Silver or Gold, but still dignified. --- Common Features Typical Bronze Plan Contains Casket / coffin Basic coffin (often “flat lid”, basic material). Might be a simple design without premium finishings. E.g., flat coffin in a “Budget” or Bronze range. Waiting period Often there's a waiting period before you can claim for natural death (e.g. 3‑6 months). Accidental death often has little or no waiting period. --- Cost / Premiums * Bronze plans are usually the cheapest tier. Low monthly premiums compared to Silver/Gold. * Premium depends on age, number of family members covered, and the benefit amount. * For example, one provider’s Bronze plan might cost \~R80 per month for a single member (18‑64 yrs) under basic benefits. * As age goes up, premiums rise. Cover for spouse/children adds cost. --- Limitations / What You Might Not Get Bronze plans often omit or limit many of the extras that higher tiers have. Common limitations include: * Less elaborate coffin / no premium finishes * Fewer family cars for transport * Lower number of chairs/tents/“comfort” services (refreshments, meals, elaborate staffing) * No luxury add-ons (e.g. no VIP lounge, no mobile toilet, no video services, etc.) * Lower payouts (i.e. the cover amount is more modest, meaning you may have to contribute extra if you want more) * Longer waiting periods for some causes of death (natural causes, sometimes suicide) * Minimal or no grocery or “after‑funeral” benefits --- Bronze Plan: R220 per month under our 1+5 / 1+9 plan; includes flat or half‑view coffin, coffin spray, hearse, 2 family cars, grave marker, grave decoration, chairs/tent etc.

bronze plus

A Bronze Plus funeral plan is typically a more enhanced version of the standard Bronze Plan, offering slightly more coverage and benefits while still being an affordable option. It’s designed for people who want the basics of a funeral plan but with a few extra features that provide more dignity and convenience to the service. Bronze Plus Funeral Plan – Features 1. Increased Funeral Cover A Bronze Plus Plan usually offers a slightly higher payout than the standard Bronze plan, typically between R12,000–R18,000. * This amount is still considered relatively modest but can help cover the costs of a more dignified service, including transportation, basic coffin, and funeral-related costs. 2. Dependants Included * In a Bronze Plus plan, cover often extends to the principal member, their spouse, and children (up to a certain age). * Some plans may allow you to cover extended family members (parents, siblings), but this is usually optional and could add to the premium. 3. Funeral Services Hearse services to transport the deceased to the funeral home, as well as 1–2 family vehicles to carry relatives to the service. Coffin options** may still be basic (wood or simple material), but they are often upgraded slightly in comparison to a regular Bronze plan (e.g., better design, more durable materials). 4. Additional Services Extra funeral essentials that are not included in basic Bronze plans: Basic tenting and chairs for the funeral service (larger than the typical Bronze plan). * A basic floral arrangement or acoffin spray is often included, but it will still be a modest one. * A basic grave marker (which could be a cross or small headstone). * Funeral programs may be upgraded in design and print quality. 5. Extended Mortuary Storage * Many Bronze Plus plans provide longer mortuary storage (up to 7 days or more), which can be helpful if there is a delay in organizing the funeral due to family logistics or other circumstances. 6. Premiums Bronze Plus plans come with a slightly higher premium than the regular Bronze plan, but they are still much more affordable than Silver or Gold plans. * Monthly premiums can range from R100 – R200, depending on the number of family members covered, age of the insured, and benefits. 7. Waiting Periods * Just like with standard Bronze plans, there will often be a waiting period of 3–6 months for natural death claims. Accidental death claims may be paid out immediately. * This waiting period ensures that the insurer doesn't face any undue risk if the policyholder dies soon after taking out the plan. --- While the Bronze Plus plan remains a budget-friendly option, there may be a few additional perks that could set it apart from the standard Bronze plan. These could include: Grocery or essential benefits: Some providers offer small grocery allowances or essential household goods for the family after the funeral. These are not always guaranteed with Bronze or Bronze Plus plans but may be included as an add-on. Accidental Death Double Payout: If the policyholder passes away due to an accident, the benefit payout might be doubled. Body Repatriation: Transporting the body back to the deceased's home town or country could be covered, depending on the plan. Extended Family or Dependant Cover: The option to add extended family members such as grandparents, parents, or siblings for a slightly higher premium. --- Premiums: Around R120 – R150 per month for a single person. Family coverage will increase premiums. * Includes benefits like a basic coffin 1–2 family cars, grave marker, funeral programs, and basic floral arrangement**. Extended services like7-day mortuary storage and extra cover for the spouse and children. Why Choose a Bronze Plus Plan? Affordable, but more comprehensive than the basic Bronze plan. * Provides more dignity and better coverage than basic Bronze options. * A good balance of affordability and enhanced service. * Ideal for individuals who want to ensure their family is covered for the funeral, without breaking the bank for high-tier plans.
